SOMERS – Swing bridge nd

The bridge was built in 1935 by the army’s 3rd Divisional Engineers during a weekend bivouac organised by Lieutenant- General Stan Savige. It replaced a bridge across Merricks Creek that had washed away the previous year during floods. previous year. It was removed in 1949.
